There is no Frigate like a Book
To take us Lands away
Nor any Coursers like a Page
Of prancing Poetry –
This Traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of Toll –
How frugal is the Chariot
That bears the Human Soul –
I was feverishly languishing in bed last
week with a knock-out duo of maladies, one that responded to antibiotics,
the other to time and rest. So as part of the rest remedy, I read. And when my heard hurt too much to read, I
listened to pod casts about reading. (The
“A Good Read” feature, part of the BBC’s “Books and Authors” podcast is my
favorite.)
So since I haven’t done a virtual art
gallery post in a while, I thought it was time for an exhibit on “Women
Reading.” With so many choices it was
hard to narrow down my favorites but here are a few that struck me as particularly
worthy of aspiring to imitate this summer.
Now off to grab a peach and a book a la Matisse.
